I was expecting to get emotional watching this, but i'm severely overwhelmed at how deep my feelings go & the intensity of my tears. In '67, my family was living in the suburbs 46K north of the city. The year our country moved into triple digits, turning 100, i moved in double, turning the big 10. I'm extremely grateful for being old enough to have realized & appreciate at the time, not just the massive physical accomplishment, but also the social impact of celebrating the cultural uniqueness of a large diversity of nations while bringing them together into a peaceful, true global village. Having an 18 years old brother who introduced me to the music he listened to, i was a little more socially aware of the cultural revolution than my fellow 10 years olds. I remember thinking, San Fransisco could keep their 'summer of love', (i was too young anyway 😂), we had Expo 67!

I have a similar story. My parents met just before the storm and couldn't talk to eachother as they were cities appart and the storm stopped them from speaking to eachother. The met again 2 months later and then 2 years later here I was! truly happy that they met again, or I wouldn't be here

I’ll never forget this disaster…I’m in Toronto, but my dear friend lost his car, house (both crushed by trees), and almost his life after being hit by a bus while walking to work, that lost control on the ice, jumped the curb, and pinned him against a wall. He and his family was devastated, I just thank god he survived after 2 months in the hospital. It was an awakening reminder material things mean nothing, because you can replace a house and a car, which he did, but you cannot replace a life. Ps - a HUGE THANK YOU to all those that came to help!!!!

NY sports fan here; I always rooted for the Montreal Expos, especially during the late 90's on. I truly believe that there were behind-the- back scheming to get rid of the Expos from Montreal. I can only hope that Montreal can get another team soon.

After the pandemic I’ve noticed that montreallers seem to be a lot more rude. The last couple times I have been there, I’ve encountered a lot of rudeness and dirty looks.

The season pass for a child was $17.50. Which is the equivalent of $166.05 today. I still have a wallet from Expo 67.

A wonderful coverage of Expo's impact. I was 11 when it opened, 12 when it closed, and much wiser after visiting. My only quibble is something that was missing. It was Prime Minister John Diefenbaker that made Expo happen by throwing the weight of the Government of Canada behind it in November 1962. Diefenbaker lost the 1963 election but the die had been set and the Expo braintrust was unstoppable. He apparently told Drapeau to "think big" and the mayor was the master promoter and showman it needed to succeed.

I was in Montreal last weekend to see the f1 race, was my first time in Montreal. I really like to hear the girls speaking in French, I love it.🥰

I remember we had a mini ice storm in Pennsylvania the next week and all our power people had left to help Montreal. We were out for days

I’m pretty sure that ice storm was in Buffalo New York USA also because I don’t remember exactly when but I remember in the 80s going to the bus stop one day with my sister. It was so difficult to walk on the ice. We waited a long time for the bus but school was canceled. The ice just kept getting thicker and thicker and it took so long for the ice to get cleared and for it to melt There was also an ice storm years later when I was living on Deer Street. A power line came down and landed on a car. We were without power for a couple of weeks.

Born in Montreal - I was 9 years old in 1967. My parents (not with a lot of disposable income) they pulled every available $ and bought season passes for Expo 67 - we went every Monday and Saturday afternoons/evenings - my Dad was a baker who worked 6 days a week, but short days on Monday and Saturday (well not really short starting at 2am those days). I feel so fortunate to have been able to experience Expo 67 - AMAZING! Season passes were fashioned like “passports” - brilliant

LOL. If you are afraid of weather don't come to Montreal. We have severe storms to hard winter storms and everything in between. There are many cities across NA who have this same type of weather. We live in the east which is humid and hot at times. We have experienced hot weather before. In the 80s a couple of summers were as hot as the one you describe in your video. Montreal gets way less smog days in the summer nowadays compared to the 70s of last century. At least we didn't experience the heat of the 1930s.Stop believing in what they tell you today about record breakers etc. Most of it is false.

La ville de Québec qui est très peu fréquentée par les touristes, voire même par les canadiens eux-mêmes, c'est un véritable bijou d'architecture européenne du dix huitième siècle. Pourtant il fraudait éviter toute visite à Québec en hiver vu climat hivernal. En été par contre et surtout pour la fête de la Saint-Jean Baptiste .... et non je ne suis pas québécoise en rien et dans rien.

Truly a spectacular chapter in Canadian history. I was a child in absolute wonder visiting Expo67. I lived on the South Shore of Montreal and we visited several times. Everything was new, the subway, the skyscrapers, the bridges, the highways, it was a city beyond compare. Canada's centennial, our best year ever, we never came close to that euphoria ever again. Seems like something we lost forever.

In moving from New York to Montréal, I would not change my allegiance from the Yankees to the Red Sox, but I became an Expos sympathizer. The Vermont Lake Monsters were the VT Expos & were the Class A team with them from 1994-04. I wanted Youppi! in the Mascot Hall of Fame when he got nominated, and I was so happy to see he did. I sincerely hope that MLB returns to Montréal. It deserves to have a team back! A better stadium & hopefully a return to emphasizing finding & developing young talent players would be incredible.

A NY bagel can only compete with a Montreal supermarket bagel at best , nowhere near the quality and taste of our 2 main institutions, St.Viateur & Fairmont bagel
